According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the human-animal bond is defined as "...a mutually beneficial and dynamic relationship between humans and animals." In fact, humans have benefited from this unique connection for thousands of years. Because animals were so important to the daily life of ancient people, there is evidence that they could not have survived or thrived without them.
Anyone who has had pets or working animals probably doesn't need a scientific definition of a common bond. The bond we share with dogs, cats, birds, horses, llamas, etc. goes much deeper than words. Our animals can feel our emotions and provide us with joy and peace comparable to the closest human relationships in our lives.
Animal bond isn't constrained to just Dogs, Cats, Birds, or Horses. Indeed the scariest lion to a giant elephant would be bonded with a human who cares, adores, and adopts them as a child and protects them.
